Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American author of fantasy, horror and science fiction. He is notable for blending elements of science fiction and horror; and for popularizing "cosmic horror": Lovecraft has become a cult figure in the horror genre and is noted as creator of the "Cthulhu Mythos," a series of loosely interconnected fictions featuring a "pantheon" of nonhuman creatures, as well as the famed Necronomicon, a grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore.

His works typically had a tone of "cosmic pessimism," regarding mankind as insignificant and powerless in the universe.

Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, and his works, particularly early in his career, have been criticized as occasionally ponderous, and for their uneven quality. Nevertheless, Lovecraft's reputation has grown tremendously over the decades, and he is now commonly regarded as one of the most important horror writers of the 20th Century, exerting an influence that is widespread, though often indirect. Compra verificada. I have wanted to read this story for years, and now I'm so glad that I have.

I then listened as I read, in what is called "immersion reading". Now I could pronounce all of the strange words such as "Cthulhu" and "R'lyeh". I was enjoying this strange tail at last and it turns out that I loved it!

I now want to read more of Lovecraft, now I know why he is known as a great author. I've had a taste and want more! Surely, the Lovecraftian Mythos at the center of this horror story, narrated by Francis Wayland Thurston, was an inspiration for the mytharc of the television series featuring paranormal investigators Mulder and Scully.

Surely, the Lovecraftian Mythos at the center of this horror story, narrated by Francis Wayland Thurston, was an inspiration for the mytharc of the television series featuring paranormal investigators Mulder and Scully. Bless you audio narrators for reading lines like that!!

Lovecraft fathered the Cthulhu mythos with this published short story. It is a 3-part story that follows the discovery of a lost manuscript providing evidence and accounts of a supernatural Thing on the bottom of the ocean Not really a fan of monster stories, but I'm fascinated by how things originate. I liked the spooky atmosphere that gradually built into the horrific I liked learning more about the Cthulhu following as I've come across it before but never got much background on it.

But the writing style is a bit antiquated and verbose and hard to follow at times. I listened to the audio on the second read and that made all the difference The other things I enjoyed about reading this story is all the monster art out there and all over the reviews With the creation of this tale, came the creation of an entirely new genre, and H.

    H.P. Lovecraft: Melhores Contos

Lovecraft absolutely outdid himself with this new fiction tale. Lovecraft conveys a frightening, yet compelling, narrative which delves into ideas that seem almost completely new to mankind. After the protagonist, Francis Wayland Thurston, discovers some of his late grandfather's belongings, he finds himself in a predicament with an ancient deity, named Cthulhu, who has been slumbering for ages, and Thurston becomes wrapped into the cult that follows.

While he is most descriptive, Lovecraft also leaves much to the reader's imagination, allowing them to develop this story within their minds instead of just flat-out saying it. While many, including myself, would consider this book outlandish, it is impossible to deny it a place in literature history as a wonderful tale, which challenged common thought and brought new ideas to mankind.

With a cliffhanger ending that borders on absolute madness, The Call of Cthulhu delivers in every aspect that it presents within the storyline, and begot a successful series to cement itself into history.

The quality is not the best. I could have printed out a copy since I apparently use better quality paper. The editing of the book leaves the text appearing like one very long run on sentence that lasts for 36 pages.

I would not recommend this product for a collector. It would be acceptable to give to a younger child who you would not expect to take care of their belongings Acesse a site. site Web Services. CNPJ
